Wear with Care

Make it Last

Each item we produce expresses our commitment to sustainability. You can help extend the lifetime of your pieces by the way you wear and care for them. The fashion industry will change if we are able to alter our mindset about how we consume. We believe in cherishing a few great quality pieces, designed and made to stand the test of time. The BYADÈLE collection is comprised of thoughtfully considered items that are meant to last. Through the proper care and storage of your garment, you will be able to extend its life, thus reducing its environmental impact.

Change is natural. Please recognise that this is all part of the natural lifecycle of your clothing. Idiosyncrasies (signs of aging, fading, and visible mending) will occur and should be appreciated as part of the garment's narrative. These should not be considered flaws.

Understanding Your Items

Journey. Your garment is the result of many actions. It started with the land that grew the fibers, the farmers that raised the crop or animals that contributed to your clothing. It continued with the people who turned the material into threads, dyeing them and weaving them into fabric. It progressed through the efforts of patternmakers and designers and finished with seamstresses and tailors, who added the trimmings that had an equally long journey to get to the item. And then, voila, to you.

Respect. Each person in the supply chain above contributed to the making of your garment. In order for each person to have representation and an equal wage, we have to integrate them into the pricing and to value them we share and wear our items with respect.

Story. If your item did not come through our supply chain, it is best to honor his own journey and how it got to you. From whomever owned and loved it before you, or to the people that made it, to the land that raised it. All of our belongings should be cherished.

Caring for Your Items

Love. Treat your item with respect. Your item has affected and touched the lives of many people before it got to you.

Clean Selectively. Only wash your garments when necessary. This will not only conserve water and energy but will minimize the degradation of the fibers, which are naturally damaged in this process.

Small Spots. If you notice a small stain, it is best to wash with warm water and a bit of delicate washing detergent directly on the spot with delicate scrubbing.

Washing. Using cooler temperatures when washing your clothes as it is gentler on the fibers and conserves energy.

Dry Cleaning. Depending on the fiber content of your item, some garments will need to be dry-cleaned in order to preserve the fabric quality. Please refer to the care label.

Air Dry. This protects your garments from harsh heat that wears down and ages the surface of the fabric.

Extend the Life

Repair. Hold onto items that are precious to you. The easiest way is to repair damages, is to sew up small holes from love or wear, tidy up small snags and loose buttons and give you item new life! All of these are easy to do at home.

Fit. We try to design our clothes with a flexible fit in mind because we acknowledge that all bodies are made differently and no body is exactly alike. If necessary find a local tailor and adjust your garment as desired.

Renew. Sometimes we outgrow our items or the times outgrow a style, so we recommend tailoring in order to bring it back to life in a new iteration. Overdye your item with onion skins, avocado skins, and tea or coffee right in your own kitchen, the options are endless to rejuvenate your clothing.

Time to Let Go

Swap. Exchange with a friend

Resell. At a consignment store, or online

Donate. Be aware that not all donation bins are created equal. Often times excess clothing that has been donated is sent off to developing countries, which can inhibit the local craft economy. Your item continues to live on after it has left your closet. Please be mindful of this process.
